What needed solving
Parts presented on a pallet or conveyor did not all occupy the same position and angle. The robot needed component coordinates from the vision system rather than relying only on fixed pick points.
How Qualitas solved it
Camera images and vision matching located the components. Calibration connected image positions with physical coordinates, allowing the vision results to guide the robot controller.
Locating components on the pallet
Turning image locations into usable coordinates
- Capture the component area and locate the part features used for guidance.
- Determine position and orientation using the project’s vision matching setup.
- Apply the calibrated image-to-world mapping and communicate coordinates to the robot controller.
Qualitas supplied the vision guidance; the automation integrator supplied the wider robotic cell.
